Australia's New Hope Group increases raw coal production by 20% in August-October
On November 18, Australia's New Hope Group (New Hope Group) recently released a quarterly operation report showing that in the first quarter of the current fiscal year (August-October), New Hope Group's raw coal production was 4.041 million tons, a year-on-year increase of 65.1%, and a year-on-year increase of 19.9%.
Among them, the company's Bengalla coal mine in New South Wales (Bengalla) raw coal production was 3.01 million tons, an increase of 36.3% year-on-year, an increase of 24.1% year-on-year; Queensland raw coal production was 1.031 million tons, a big 3.3 times year-on-year, an increase of 9.1% year-on-year.
From August to October, the company's commercial coal production was 2.715 million tons, up 32.8% year-on-year and 8.7% sequentially. Of this, coal production in New South Wales and Queensland was 2.235 million tons and 479,000 tons, respectively.
During the same period, the company's coal sales volume was 2.765 million tons, up 52% year-on-year and 8.1% sequentially. Among them, New South Wales coal small ang 2.407 million tons, an increase of 32.3% and 21.1% year-on-year, respectively; Queensland coal sales of 358,000 tons, a decrease of 37.3% year-on-year.
In the current fiscal year (August 2024-July 2025), the company's raw coal production is expected to be between 150-170 million tons, an increase of 32% over the actual production of the previous fiscal year.
Driven by the increase in raw coal production and higher sales prices, New Hope's earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) was $304.6 million in the August-October period, up 40.8 percent from the previous quarter, the company announced.
During the same period, the company, the company's average coal sales price was US$192.4 per ton, up 6.3% from US$181 in the previous quarter.
