Russian seaborne coal exports pick up in October

Kpler ship tracking data shows that in October 2024, Russia's seaborne coal exports amounted to 12,328,400 tons, an increase of 6.25% from the previous month and a decrease of 12.47% year-on-year.

Sub-destination, Russia exported 4,961,700 tons of seaborne coal to mainland China in October, down 10.30% from a year earlier, down 20.48% year-on-year, accounting for 40% of Russia's total exports.

In the same month, Russia exported 1,712,800 tons of seaborne coal to Turkey, an increase of 32.36% sequentially and a decrease of 4.99% year-on-year; exported 1,568,500 tons to South Korea, an increase of 83.39% sequentially and an increase of 5.10% year-on-year.

Exported 1,050,800 tons to India, down 18.29% YoY, down 48.85% YoY; exported 381,400 tons to China Taiwan, down 29.97% YoY, down 1.66% YoY.

In January-October 2024, Russia's seaborne coal exports totaled 132 million tons, down 15.32% year-on-year.
